EXAMPLE PROJECTS

Turn the role you’re hiring for into a
paid project

Before you spend interview time on anyone, give candidates a piece of real work from your team and see how they handle it. Below, see what we've learned over 10 years of scoping meaningful projects, a few examples from employers who’ve run them, and a list of ideas to borrow.

How we define a project

A good project is real work your team needs done, designed to be completed independently in 10 to 40 hours, with a clear deliverable at the end. That’s enough to show you how a candidate handles an ambiguous brief and whether they care about your company, before you spend interview time on them.

A Student's Story

Harishma Ashok, a graduate student at the University of Central Florida: "At the very end [of my Micro-Internship], I asked them to keep me in mind for future opportunities. My supervisor responded and asked if there were any current postings that aligned with my interests. I went to the careers page, applied right away, and let my supervisor know.”

She landed the job, and was promoted after three months.
