Post a Parker Dewey Ambassador Micro-Internship

Have a current student student help you spread the word about Parker Dewey Micro-Internships! We've made it easy for you by outlining the recommended tasks for this Micro-Internship, and having a template ready for you to post.  These tasks include activities where the student will help you engage employers and students.  You can customize this list of tasks however you wish.

Just like all Parker Dewey Micro-Internships, the selected Micro-Intern will be paid for their efforts. The source of the payment depends on how you came to have access to Parker Dewey+:

  • If your institution is paying for a Parker Dewey program, you can choose to have the cost of this Micro-Internship ($400) deducted from the allocated program funds. To do this, add the name of your program in the 'Programs' section when posting the Micro-Internship.
  • If your institution is paying only for Parker Dewey+, the cost of this Micro-Internship ($400) is included in the cost of your subscription.
  • If your institution has access to Parker Dewey+ via an externally funded program (ie: the Kansas Micro-Internship Program or the DeLuca Micro-Internship Program), the cost of a Student Ambassador is not covered, and your institution would be invoiced for the $400 cost of selecting a Student Ambassador Micro-Intern.

At the links below, read more about the benefits of hiring a Parker Dewey Student Ambassador Micro-Intern, and access step-by-step instructions for posting this Micro-Internship.

Using Parker Dewey+ If You Work With Students

Coach students during one-on-one advising sessions

Parker Dewey+ offers you a unique view of the level of completeness and quality your students are putting forth in their Parker Dewey profiles and Micro-Internship applications. This inside look includes the ability to view their profile, application responses, and feedback they've received for any Micro-Internships they may have already completed. By viewing what projects they've applied for in the past, you can even take the opportunity to role play how different responses might have resulted in different outcomes.

Conduct proactive outreach to students in need of support

Download your 'All Students' report to identify those who have applied for 10 or more projects without success. Often, those who fall in this category have an incomplete profile or could use support with their application responses. Here’s an email template with resources you can use to reach out to them.

Include school-specific data in your student-facing presentations

When highlighting Parker Dewey as an institutional resource, we have a single-slide presentation template you can easily incorporate into existing templates for a concept overview. As a Parker Dewey+ partner, we also encourage you to include additional slides with some information specific to your institution. Below are some suggestions:

  • Demonstrate Accessibility: Under the 'Impact Report' tab, download a report that shows the range of students that are signing up and getting selected, including diversity by academic year, major, and other demographic information.
  • Highlight the Range of Opportunities: Under the 'Student Data' tab, download the 'Selected for Projects' report to show companies that have previously selected your students for Micro-Internships and the titles of projects that those students have completed.
  • Emphasize Timeliness: Under the 'Employer Data' tab, download 'Projects Featured for Your School' and 'All Open Micro-Internships' reports to highlight Micro-Internship projects that are currently available.

Promote Parker Dewey using school-specific opportunities and stories

While there is already plenty of ready-to-use student-facing content in our Marketing Toolkit, as a Parker Dewey+ partner, you have a unique opportunity to highlight school-specific opportunities and successes when promoting Parker Dewey to your students. Below are examples of how your Parker Dewey+ access can help:

  • Under the 'Employer Data' tab, download 'Current Projects Featured for Your School' and 'Currently Available Open-to-All Micro-Internships' reports to see currently available opportunities, then use the email, social and newsletter links at the top of your 'Dashboard view' to access templates that make it easy to promote specific Micro-Internship projects.
  • Download the 'Selected for Projects' report under the 'Student Data' tab to identify students who have completed Micro-Internships. These students may be willing to be a success story for you.
    • Also review the 'Complete Student Feedback' and 'Complete Employer Feedback' reports to see who gave and received the most positive feedback.
    •  Use our Parker Dewey interview and image templates to collect and share the resulting stories. Make sure to also send the story to schools@parkerdewey.com - we love to see and share your success!

Using Parker Dewey+ If You Work With Employers

Understand Employer Engagement and Needs

Parker Dewey+ allows you to view which employers have demonstrated interest in recruiting your students. The following reports are most helpful in understanding the actions that employers have already taken to engage your students and recent graduates.

  • 'Company Sign Ups' (found under the 'Employer Data' tab): See which employers have created a Parker Dewey account via your school’s landing page. They may or may not have already taken the next step of posting a Micro-Internship, but even if they haven't yet, creating an account from your page demonstrates an interest in engaging and recruiting your students. Use this email template to encourage companies who have signed up through your page to take the next step and post a project.

  • 'All Projects Posted Where Your School Has Been Specifically Listed'  (found under the 'Employer Data' tab): View Micro-Internships where your school was specifically listed as a target school by that organization.   This includes open, in progress and completed projects. This report also shows:
    • Status: Indicates if the project is currently open ("posted"), a student has been selected but project has not been completed ("in progress"), or all students selected have completed the project ("completed").
    • Start/due dates: These are the date the company is hoping to make a Micro-Intern selection and the date the company is hoping for the project to be completed. Please be aware that not all companies wait until the listed start date to make a selection. Some may select their Micro-Intern as soon as they receive a qualified candidate, even if the project has only been posted for a few hours at that point.
    • Applications Count: If this number is low, we recommend quickly connecting with your student-facing colleague(s) to make more students aware of the opportunity.
    • Total Openings: See how many Micro-Interns the company plans to select.  This may change once the company sees the applicant pool.
    • Total Hired: See how many students have been hired thus far.  If the total number of students hired is less than the total number of openings, the project is likely to still be visible to students unless the company has chosen to no longer accept applications.
  • 'Students Selected' (found under the 'Student Data' tab): See a list of the companies who have worked with your students.  If there are employers there who you do not have contact information for yet, and you want to establish a relationship and make sure they're aware of additional opportunities to recruit your students, reach out to Parker Dewey.  We’re happy to make an introduction.

Not seeing a lot of information in the above reports yet? Promotion of Parker Dewey to your existing employers and alumni is key! Make sure you're completing the recommended steps in our Partner Checklists to spread the word and create more Micro-Internship opportunities for your students.

Share Parker Dewey with Employers in One-On-One Conversations and Presentations

When discussing recruiting options with employers, whether in conversations or overview presentations of recruiting resources at your institution, Parker Dewey+ allows you to easily highlight the range of talent at your institution that are interested in the real-world experience and flexibility that are hallmarks of Micro-Internships.

For more formal presentations, we recommend incorporating this single slide from our Marketing Toolkit, but as a Parker Dewey+ partner, we also encourage you to include additional slides with some information specific to your institution.

Share the 'User Graduation Date' and 'Student Demographics' data from the 'Impact Report' of your Parker Dewey+ Account to demonstrate the diversity of talent seeking these opportunities. If your students have already done multiple Micro-Internships, you can also share the employer feedback data to emphasize the quality of work completed by your students and recent graduates.  Sharing the student feedback may also be useful to highlight how much students value their Micro-Internship experiences.

Promote Parker Dewey Using School-Specific Stories

We recommend downloading the 'Selected for Projects' and 'Feedback Report' reports under the 'Student Data' tab to identify companies who may be a good fit for success stories. If you don't already have a point of contact for the employers in the data, reach out to Parker Dewey.  We’re happy to make an introduction.

Use our Parker Dewey interview template to get the information needed to write a story about Micro-Internships from the employer's perspective.
