Post a Micro-Internship

Written by Parker Dewey Admin | Jun 9, 2026 10:34:25 AM

After you have created a Parker Dewey employer account, you will be directed to post your first project.  There are three ways to get started:

  1. Project Builder: Describe what you need, and Parker Dewey will create a project for you.
  2. Start from Scratch: Create a project using Parker Dewey's step-by-step form.
  3. Project Template (Library): Browse Parker Dewey's example projects.

After initially creating your Parker Dewey account, your "Welcome Screen" will look like the image pictured below.  Click on an option based on how you want to get started.

If you have already created a Parker Dewey account, your dashboard will contain these options as radial buttons in the upper left corner of your screen as pictured in the screenshot below.  Click on an option based on how you want to proceed.

Project Builder

From the Welcome Screen, click blue Get Started button to use the Project Builder.  You have two options for how you can use the Project Builder:

  1. Describe the project you have in mind in the "Project Description" box. It can be simple or detailed depending on what you are envisioning.  You can also paste a job description or link to an existing role that you are recruiting for, and the Project Builder will suggest a project that can help you identify early-career talent who may be a good fit for that role.

  2. Drag/Drop a document that contains the information listed above.  The document can be in a variety of formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX or TXT.  It cannot exceed 20 MB.

When you're ready, click Generate.

On the next screen, you will see your suggested Micro-Internship including the project's deliverables, suggested duration, cost, and assessment questions.  If you wish to adjust the Micro-Internship, use the box at the bottom of the screen to highlight what you would like to change.  Click Refine to generate a new Micro-Internship.

If you are satisfied with the project, select Move forward. You can make additional edits on the next screen.

To start from the beginning, click Start over.

Start from Scratch

To create a new project, follow these three steps:

Step 1: Description

  • Project Name: The project title will be visible to all Career Launchers before they read details about the project.
  • Department: The department that is hosting this project (e.g. IT, Engineering, Marketing, etc.)
  • Start/End Date: The anticipated start and due dates for your project.  Most projects last from one week to one month. If you have hard deadlines, be sure to include that in the project description.
  • Project Description: Outline of the scope of work, nature of the project, specific deliverables, potential for future opportunities. Check out our tips for posting a custom Micro-Internship project.  If you need assistance, use the Project Builder.
  • Location: Indicate where your organization is based and whether your project can be conducted remotely or onsite. Over 90% of Micro-Internships are conducted remotely; if this project must take place on-site, be sure to include that as the location.
  • Program: If you are posting a Micro-Internship as part of a funded program, select the program on the drop-down list.  All projects are subject to approval.  Be sure to review the project requirements from the program website.

Step 2: Applicants

Provide more information about who you want to work with so that you can attract applicants that align to your needs.

  • Estimated Hours: What is the overall number of hours that you expect the project will take?  This is the expected TOTAL hours (not weekly hours). For example, 5 hours/week x 4 weeks = 20 Estimated Hours
  • Amount student will receive: Fixed fee payment in US Dollars upon completion of the project. Most projects are paid $20-25 per estimated hour of work by the Micro-Intern.  Upon successful completion of the project, the Micro-Intern will be paid this amount irrespective of how much time it takes them to complete the project.
  • Amount you pay (per contractor): Your total cost per Micro-Intern. Total costs typically includes the Micro-Intern's payment as well as all legal and other administrative fees of your project.
  • Number of contractors: Number of open positions you expect to hire.  You can change this as needed and only pay when a Micro-Intern is selected by you for the project.
  • Skills: This includes your desired skills the students would need to complete the project.  For example, software that the contractor would be expected to know prior to taking the job or that they would learn/use to complete the project.
  • Schools & Affiliations: Open your Micro-Internship exclusively for Career Launchers from one or more specific colleges/universities or affiliated organizations. If you do not select any schools/affiliations, your project will be visible to all Career Launchers.
  • Graduation Status: Limit the project just to current students or recent grads.  If you do not have a preference, leave this section as-is.

Step 3: Questions

When prospective Micro-Interns apply to your project, they will be required to answer each of the questions you list in this section.  Parker Dewey requires one question for all Micro-Internships (Why do you think we should select you for this opportunity?).

If you are participating as part of a program, there may be additional required questions that pre-populate in the application that students are required to complete.  Do not remove these required questions.

Project Templates (Library)

Need some ideas about what could be a good Micro-Internship?  Use the Project Templates to get some ideas.  You can organize this by business department.  If you see a project that you like, you can click View Template.  If you are logged into your Parker Dewey Employer account, this project will pre-populate so that you can customize it for your needs.
